The logs put together in the shape of a Chinese Character, "Hito" meaning human, are architecturally called "Gassho". "Gasshozukuri" is the house combined this "Gasho" with a steep rafter roof.
These houses with "Gasshozukuri" have the following characteristics.



-   No nails or clamps are used to build these houses but putting logs together using ropes and the rind of vine called 'NESO'
-   These houses have spacious attics
-   These spacious attics were once utilized for raising silkworms.
-   These houses usually have 3 to 4 stories. These huge roofs, almost in the shape of equilateral triangle are very steep and reach all the way to the 1st floor eaves.
-   Thatches are used for these roofing, which are changed in every 30 to 40 years. The house of 'KAIKOTE' is 180 years old and it was brought and rebuilt from the village in Hida. Please enjoy this 'Gasshozukuri' house along with our meals.









The hall located on the first floor (takes up to 40 guests) is decorated with chic antiques such as old Japanese chests. We are certain that you can enjoy our meals surrounded with very relaxing environment suitable to the ancient city.










Japanese room on the 1st floor (takes up to 22 guests). This Japanese room is avalable for all your meeting and gathering needs.










Mezzanine Japanese room (takes up to 20 guests) is more like an annex. We are confident that you will enjoy our cuisine inside of the very warm atmosphere of "Gashozukuri"
